Trackies...the dressy kind

Is that not an oxymoron? I mean, trackies by their very definition are not dressy right? Sort of. I mean they are never going to be a pant you wear to a fancy restaurant or to a party. But the right pair of black trackies can look quite smart. And yep, they do need to be black. No pair of grey marle trackies will ever look dressy enough to wear to the office. A good black, possibly navy, pair on the other hand matched with the right top half and shoes will do perfectly well. *obviously this does not apply to those in corporate work, more so those with a dressy casual vibe.

They key to keeping trackies office approps lies in the cut. They must be slim through the leg, tapering to sit just above the ankle bone. A drawstring waistband gives them a slightly more polished look too. And it goes without saying here, fabric is key. No cheap and nasty trackie fabric that will pill after 1 wash.

So with these things in mind, I've done the legwork for you ladies and found a few rad trackies for you. And I know we are in lockdown for the next several weeks, but you can dress them down whilst at home or style them like you were heading into work and look super fancy for all your zoom calls.

From Melb biz Third Boi, a new fave of mine, these 100% cotton French Terry sweat pants have a rad contasting waistband and cuff which would look super fab with a white shirt & white kicks.

Organic Crew is another Melb biz who I just luuuuurve. They use 100% organic French Terry cotton, have a contrasting cord at the waist and tapered cuffs. I love this with a thick knitted roll neck and checkered coat.

From Lunar & Kite, who continues the Melb biz theme, these joggers have a slight dropped crotch but not too much, are slim through the leg and have a fab seam down the front of the leg which gives a great line for the eye to follow (ie.helps makes your pins look longer!). Pair these with a slim fitting top and jacket that sits just above the hip bone.

And to round out the Melb bizs with black trackies is The Rag Trader's Camila Pants made from 100% organic cotton. A great slim leg, tapering to just above the ankle, pair these with a gorgeous knit and fun teddy jacket.

So have I won you over to my way of thinking that yes, trackies can be dressy enough for work??? They key lies in keeping the rest of your look somewhat neat and polished. No matchy matchy here! Let me know if you buy any of these for work and how you wear them. We could all use some inspiration right now from one another!

As I mentioned in my previous post, all affiliate/sponsored/pr product items would be listed at the end of the post for transparency. Today, there are none to report. These are simply trackies I've found from brands I love and believe in and want to share with you xx
